Caught it on Camera

I mentioned in a previous post about tantrums, well I had my camera handy today and was able to snap a picture mid-tantrum:
Only a few seconds later...
Back to playing and exploring the backyard :)

Pumpkin Patch

Well, if you know us well, you know that we love Halloween and fall around here. Our house is decorated and we love all things fall. Every year we would go to Schnepf Farms or some other equivalent to get a pumpkin, and start off our favorite season. Well since we moved to Vail, I was a little bummed we wouldn't be able to keep our tradition. Well I happened to stumble upon another farm, similar to Schnepf that was near us. So of course we had to check it out.

It was about a 35 minute drive from our house, which is about the same as Schnepf. We actually liked it much more. It had all of the same things, but on a much smaller scale and it was cheaper! :) It had hayrides, pumpkin patches, food, corn mazes, haystacks to climb on, ponies the kids could ride, a petting zoo and country store to buy food grown on the farm. We had a lot of fun!

Talking, Tantrums, Teeth and Toddler Beds...OH MY!

Tanner's speech is taking off! He is saying new words everyday. It is amazing to see him learning new things all the time. He is such a curious kid and is always asking, "What's this?" Some new words are grandma, grandpa, Elmo, cookie, cracker, thank you, please, me, mine, duck, horse, cow, song, and book. At his 15 month appointment, his pediatrician wanted him to have 15-20 words. He had that no problem. Then he said that at his 18 month appointment, he was looking for around 60 words. I thought that he was crazy. Well, I am pretty sure Tanner has well over 60 words in his vocabulary already. He loves to look at books and wants to know names of pictures.
Well, I think the "terrible twos" arrived a bit early ;).  Tanner started to have little fits when we told him "no" to something. He started just throwing himself on the ground and crying. Now he is grabbing toys and throwing them when he gets mad. He doesn't do it for anyone but us :) Aren't we lucky? Lol. He gets over his issues pretty quickly and gets back to playing.  He can also climb on top of our table and makes a mad dash for the table every time we are in the kitchen. He is also an avid rock collector. Everywhere we go, he finds rocks...then I find them all over the house.  They are in his toys, in our drawers, on the table, in the laundry. I always smile when I find one, because I know he put it there :)

Tanner went a few months without getting any new teeth. Well, it seemed like overnight, he got two more. One night, he woke up screaming, and I mean SCREAMING for about an hour. No temperature, clean diaper, gave him milk and food, nothing calmed him. Turns out, the next morning he had two new teeth. Poor guy :(.  They are both lower back teeth. So now his tooth count is at 10 and it looks as if a few more are getting ready to sprout through.

Tanner is now sleeping in a toddler bed! He was getting to the point where we thought he might be able to get out of his crib by himself. So, we made the decision to get him a toddler bed. I was nervous because Tanner never sits still. If he can be up and moving, he is up and moving. He is always doing multiple things at a time, like playing with a toy and watching Sesame Street, while climbing on our coffee table. So, I thought, this is going to be a nightmare to transition him into a bed that he can freely get in and out of. The first night, he climbed right up like he had been doing it his entire life and curled up into his blanket. He was asleep in minutes. He slept the entire night in his bed. He has done soooo well with the transition. He loves his bed and looks so cute sleeping in it. I can't believe he is already out of a crib.

Settled In

Well, A LOT has happened since our last post. We are all settled in Vail and we really like it here. We miss our friends and family terribly, but have made a few trips to visit already. We had visitors the first three weekends that we moved here. Adam's mom came and stay with us the first weekend. My mom and uncle came the second  weekend and my cousin Ben and his friend Laura came the third weekend. We definitely enjoyed all the company, and the eager and willing people that watched Tanner for us while Adam and I had a date night or two.  :)

We went up to Phoenix the past two weekends. One was for a bridal shower for our cousin Courtney. She is getting married next month and we are really excited for her big day! Last weekend we attended a wedding for our cousin Carol and Mike. It was a ton of fun. We also went up to see our best friend's and cousins newborn daughter, Madison. She was born the day after we left the week before so we had to wait ALL week before we got to meet her. She is absolutely adorable and perfect! Congrats Chris and Stacy! We love you guys and miss you lots!

15 Months

Tanner is now 15 months old. He had his 15 month check-up and here are his stats:

Height: 32 inches-77th percentile
Weight: 26 pounds 4 ounces-73rd percentile
Head-47.3 cm-75th percentile

He is right on track with his development. He is talking so much and running everywhere. His favorite thing to do is ask, "This?" or "That?". He wants to know what everything is. Then he copies what we tell him.

He says quite a few words, some are: momma, dada, water (wa-wa), milk, more, up, cat, dog, light, cookie, banana (sounds like nana), Moe(as in Elmo), that, this, eat, bye-bye, hi, uh-oh, fish, out (he must hear us yell this at the dogs, because he only says it to the dogs), stop (sounds like BOP!), and a ton more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

He is mastering eating with a spoon and fork. He does not like any help with it. He wants to do it himself, and we let him. We just clean a lot more now! ;)

He really likes reading books and pointing at everything in the pictures. He is so curious and we love it. It seems like everyday he is learning new things.

He now likes to be on the go. He doesn't like sitting in the cart, stroller or in a high-chair if we are somewhere that he wants to explore. He is very social and loves talking to people and flirting with the little ladies.

His personality comes out more and more and it is so much fun to watch him turn into a person!

Here is a video of him saying "hi" and "uh-oh" so cute!
